If Democrats succeed in raising the minimum wage many of the poorest low-wage workers will face significant losses in welfare benefits and tax credits that could lead to the federal government ending up with more than half of the raise the worker is supposed to be receiving. How can we be considering a policy with such a ridiculous outcome?
